Leiden University has campuses in both Leiden and The Hague, and I have lived in both cities for quite some time. The Hague is the political centre of the Netherlands; it is a very large city, and its Chinatown is home to many Chinese and Asian supermarkets—it is probably the best place for Chinese international students newly arrived in the Netherlands to ease their homesickness. Leiden is a very beautiful little town with open-air markets on Wednesdays and at weekends, offering good-quality goods at reasonable prices; the city centre is full of historic buildings, making every corner a picturesque sight. It is also very convenient to travel from Leiden and The Hague to other cities.
Career Opportunities
In truth, my degree programme was highly theoretical, and it is virtually impossible to find a job directly related to my field of study (though it may prove very useful for long-term personal development). However, whilst studying at Leiden, I met many high-achieving professionals from various industries, and the university also offers Career Services and a one-to-one Mentor Network. Students who are considering their future career prospects may wish to seek advice from the university.
